The Sands of North Africa, Battle Report (500P.)

As we finished our first 500 points for our painting challenge we did a first battle. We went for a Free for All and it ended in a silly charge of the Indian infantry which was repelled. So this is no full report it's more a picture dump.

The Sands of North Africa, Deutsches Afrikakorps, Update 2

An update of the progress so far on the DAK. In the recent thanksgiving sell by BF I bought a lot of new stuff for the DAK and I kind of went of the planed road and ended up painting tanks instead of the "88" which were on the army list for the second 500 points. I hope that I will find the time in the next few days to do them. But never the less Maurus and I managed to get in two games of 500 and 1000 points. Reports will follow soon. But now here what I've painted so far.

The Sands of North Africa, Deutsches Afrikakorps, Part 2

Hi everyone,

since my last update some time has past. Now I'd like to show you my progress for our Mid War Painting Programm. First I have to admit that I didn't finish all what I had in mind. There are still all the vehicles, the company comand and the two HMG's which need some color. So without further ado here my painted Afrikakorps figures.

The Sands of North Africa, British Indian Army, Part 2

I haven't reached the goal for this month.
I only finished 72 models, so I have a lot more to do, until the end of the year. But I am very happy with the paint job of my indians.

The Sands of North Africa, Deutsches Afrikakorps, Update

I just recently finished the first Schützenplatoon and as I promised here are some pictures of them. I think they turned out well.

Time is running by and I might not be able to finish the other platoon and the transport in time. But I at least got the Kübelwagen which were missing. Hopfully I soon get the color for basecoating the vehicles with the airbrush.

The Sands of North Africa, American Paratroopers, Part 1

Hello everyone

As you can see in previous post, we decided that each of us will paint 500 points a month to get an army for MidWar.

I did choose to build up the American Airborne.

The Sands of North Africa, Deutsches Afrikakorps, Part 1

We as a group of players are getting more and more into midwar.
What better way to get in to a new period then a new army and in order to get started we decided to do a escalating painting/gaming challenge. Every month 500 points should be painted, and games with the painted models from the previous month should be played. I hope we will be able to put up some battle reports starting in november because before we have no painted models but we will try to keep the blog updated with the progress.

I will start a Afrika Schützenkompanie and this are my first 500 points.

Except the Kübelwagen I have all the models so I hope that some picture of painted models will follow soon.

Thanks for reading Markus

Mid War, Dust Up German - Panzergrenadiere vs. American Parachute Rifle

A bit of time has past since Operation Overlord. With the recent discussions about Late War balance and an up coming Mid War tournament in october we decided to get deeper into this period. We haven't done a lot of Mid War so there is a lot to discover.

For this report Philipp wanted to try his midwar build for his Airborneboys and I had a go with a Panzergrenadierlist from Eastern Front. Missing some of the models we had to proxy a bit.

Vor dem großen Tor,
Steht n'Laterne,
Und steht sie noch davor,
Dort woll'n wir uns wieder seh'n,
Bei der Laterne wollen wir steh'n,

Operation Overlord - Juno Beach

"Ici Londres! Les Français parlent aux Français...
Les sanglots longs
Des violons
De l’autome
Blessent mon cœur
D’une langueur Monotone."

We, that's our local gaming group here in Switzerland, want to take part in this Great Crusade, and here we have our first battlereport. Mauri and I played a Hit the Beach Mission in the Canadian Sector of the Landings. As we don't own all the special modells we had to proxy some of the fortifications, DD Shermans, Crabflails and the Commandos are not painted.

So...

Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.
